About stainless steel - in general

Main categories
The main types of stainless steel are as follows:

  • Ferrite steels are magnetic and low carbon and contain chromium as the main element, generally 13% and 17%. It has a crystalline grid in the cubic volume system. They have less corrosion resistance than austenitic steels due to lower nickel content.
  • Martensitic steels are magnetic and have a typical content of 12% chromium and a medium carbon content.
  • Austenitic steels are non-magnetic and in addition to chromium, in typical concentrations of 18%, they contain nickel that increases corrosion resistance, with a carbon content of no more than 0.15%. These are the most used types of stainless steels. The addition of nickel in Cr steels increases the range and stability of the γ phase; sufficient Ni and Cr contents lead to an austenitic or possibly biphasic structure, a + c (austenitic-ferritic), at any temperature. Austenitic steels are used at operating temperatures of 600-750 ° C due to their superior creep behavior.

Objects made of stainless steel retain their appearance regardless of the degree of wear. After a few decades it loses its brightness, but with a minor investment it can regain even the glow of the first day.

The use of stainless steel is very popular especially in the technical materials category, but it is used on a wide range and for the manufacture of household articles. In addition to these areas, it also occupies an important place in the automotive industry.

The advantages of stainless steel products are as follows:

High degree of corrosion resistance;
More than 50% durability than average steels;
Durability: heat / frost resistance;
Easy to maintain;
Pleasant appearance;
Recyclable.
The stainless steel is not only resistant to moisture and most acids, it is also characterized by its hardness, high heat and cold resistance and hygienic properties. On a smooth and pore-free surface the dirt and grease can be washed very easily. Scratches and cracks on the lids soon lose their rough contours and adjust to the surface.

As with any product, the price of anticorrosive stainless steel varies depending on different demand and supply factors. Stainless steel is made around the world and is a global commodity that is imported or exported to many countries. A very high demand from a country may change the volume of demand in another country. When studying the price of stainless steel parts, such as bars or construction pipes, prices are rarely the same from one month to the next. [4]
